Sunday School

“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it” Proverbs 26:6. 

The Sunday School is one of the strongest Spiritual Organizations in Our Church and teaches ministry by ensuring Faith, Discipline, and Tradition of the Church to all the young children. The focus of our Sunday school is to educate our children on the faith and traditions of the Malankara Orthodox Church and aims to instill in the minds of the students, faith in God and teach them the principles, which Christ has taught the world.

The Sunday school academic year starts in September and ends in June.  During the summer months, students attend OVBS or work on any other Sunday school projects. Normally, classes are held every Sunday after the Holy Qurbana from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.  Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, the classes have been conducted via online platforms. Sunday school has age-level classes beginning with Pre-K to 12th grade using the Diocese-approved study textbook and workbook each year.

We are blessed to have very dedicated and qualified teachers from our church who spend their time, energy, and resources to ensure that our goal of bringing children closer to Christ. All our teachers have passed the Teacher’s Training Certification (TTC) examination and are certified Sunday School teachers.

Children from our Sunday School participated and won many prizes in the Area level and Diocesan level Competitions and excelled in Centralized Examinations. It is proud to say five 12th graders received their Diplomas last year with high honor. On behalf of our entire congregation, let us congratulate all the students, parents, and teachers for their continuing efforts in the progress of this endeavor.

Our Sunday School functions efficiently under the leadership of the Vicar, Very. Rev. Paulose Adai Cor Episcopa and the Principal, Mr. Asher Joseph Abraham. May the intercession and prayers of our Patron Saint, Mar Geevarghese be a guide and stronghold for us. May the Lord richly bless each and everyone who is involved in the Sunday school ministry.
